Rosie Wingrove Johnston - Design And Fine Art

Rosie is an artist and award winning graphic
designer who lives on a property with her husband
Gary along the Lachlan River, Forbes NSW.

A small exhibition is presently on show at
Mezzanine in Forbes (June 9 - July 31 2010)

"This small simple 'happy' collection of paintings stems from a
strong influence and love of the Lachlan River and the stock routes
or 'long paddocks'.
Captivated by the romance, poetry and history associated with
these iconic elements of our bush, this is my Australia!
Having the opportunity to drive along the Lachlan into the town of
Forbes on a weekly basis for the last seventeen years has made
me aware of the various native and domestic animals that are part
of my life. Ducks that waddle across the road with their families
and in a flurry, fly off to distract attention from their young when
danger looms. Masses of white cockatoos silhouetted against dark
stormy skies. Tortoises making a break for it hoping that a big semi

load of cattle won't come along at the wrong time! Drovers on horse back. So many images!
Fascinated by native cultures throughout the world and our own aboriginal painting styles and combining these influences
with stylised animal imagery has resulted in these colourful works.
I'm a notorious romantic... hence the name for this exhibition:
LACHLAN ROSE (a nick name my husband once gave
me). ...who knows, in another time I may well have been married to a bushranger... surely must have ridden a
horse? ...most definitely would have worn a hat!"

Rosie is planning a major exhibition in September with paintings that will reflect her impressionist
style and include some of her favourite subjects: Horses, polo & country scenes.
Rosie now has a range of products under her various labels including 'Lachlan Rose', 'The Future's
Looking Rosie', 'The Long Paddock' and the well known Polo Australia label. Soaps, cards, statio-
nery, limited edition prints. This website will be updated soon to show samples of these products.
Please feel free to contact Rosie via email and she can send more information.
